Before things get too crazy..

Hello everyone,
It’s Patrick from the Resort Office with an update on the first three weekends coming up in May. Thanks to all of you, we’ve had an incredible start to the 2017 season so far; We couldn’t have asked for better weather pretty much every weekend we’ve been open! They should be nice, and far less crowded than the last one. We still have a few campsites open for all of these, so let us know if anything sparks your interest, and we’ll let you know what kind of options we’re working with. I hope this note finds you and your family doing well, and anxiously anticipating the warm weather that’s upon us. A big breeze coming through currently, but I’m hopeful that it will calm down tomorrow. With that being said, a few of these activities are on, or close to the water so proceed with caution if you wake up tomorrow and it blows you right back inside.
Close to home, the 2017 North Carolina Paddle Festival will be held at Hammocks Beach State Park. They’ll have races, guided tours, and vendors set up to show off all the coolest new products in the industry. Hopefully this wind will die down to make it easier on everyone out on the water. Even if you’re not into the self-propelled lifestyle, you can once again catch the ferry to Bear Island to explore that beautiful uninhabited island. Ask around and you may hear about the Mainland Master Plan that was just finalized for the development of almost 300 acres for various camping accommodations. No time table exactly for when it will be ready to go, but the tedious planning stage is pretty much all but finalized.
Also in Swansboro, the 2nd Annual Swansboro Derby Day Festival will be held along the waterfront. There will be a fashion show (with plenty of funky hats), food, drinks, and lots of good times. You’ve gotta get a ticket to partake, so make your way over to one of the local sponsoring businesses to claim yours soon!
The The Iron Mac at Mac Daddy’s can be a fun time for all ages to test their skills in various games like bowling, go-karts, putt-putt and more. Register tomorrow morning to get your shot at the Cash prize for top finishers! Fun starts at 11 AM.
The beautiful town of Beaufort will be hosting the 43rd Annual Wooden Boat Show in the downtown district along the waterfront also this weekend. Whether you’re a boating fanatic or not, you can surely appreciate the true craftsmanship that goes into some of these projects. Plus- Beaufort is just a neat little town to explore and grab a bite to eat, and enjoy an adult beverage. You can check out the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort for more info on all the demos and happenings.
Last but not least, Lil Johnny’s Crab Shack will be set up in front of the Arcade this Sunday by 11 AM. Grab a bite to eat before you hit the road back home!
As always, not much going on during the week in May, which makes for a nice time to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. However, if you’re starting your weekend early, Urban Street Eats is here every Thursday for lunch. They’ve got some delicious tacos, sandwiches, and fries to satisfy your taste buds. Look for them out here a lot more once the summer begins.
On Friday the 12th, we’ll have a double-header, with La Cocina De Noemi set up selling some authentic Puerto Rican food for lunch, then Lil Johnny’s Crab Shack rounding out the evening for dinner. If that’s not enough, Maw Maw’s Crab Cakes will be frying up in the parking lot of the EI Wine Market Saturday and Sunday.

Crab Cakes were a big hit at this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Fest!
We’ll have some fun events during that weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day. The EI Wine Market will have their special Muffins & Mimosas tasting on Saturday morning starting at 9 AM. Once you’ve had your taste of deliciousness, come out to the Stage for our ‘Sip Happens’ Wine & Design event. It starts at 10 AM, and we’d love for you to sign up in the Reservation Office the day before, if possible. As soon as we have the canvas options, we’ll post them here and display them so you can choose which masterpiece you’d like to create. Lularoe Candy Moore will also be set up at the Stage area that morning selling comfortable clothes, and jewelry! Guys, if you’re like everyone else and slacking on Mother’s Day gift ideas, there’s your shot at getting something she’ll love at the last minute. If you haven’t had enough to drink throughout the day, Nancee and the crew will have another Wine Tasting at the Store on Saturday night from 5-7 PM. These tastings are great, because you can pick your favorite things from the lineup and buy them to enjoy in full quantities later! After all that fun in the sun from the weekend, please join us for a special Mother’s Day Worship Service with Curtis Hyler & Jubilation. The guys will be here every Sunday from then until Labor Day, and they’ll be bringing some special guests along every now and then. All Sunday services start at 9 AM at the Stage, and are always open to the public for those who wish to join.
As we creep closer and closer to Memorial Day Weekend, the big events become a lot more commonplace. There are two area events that should draw a dancin’ crowd on the weekend before the crazy one. The 2017 AB Beach Music Festival will be held near ‘The Circle’ on Saturday, May 20th, and the Beaufort Music Festival will be held on that same weekend. The Crystal Coast Boat Show will also be held along the waterfront in downtown Morehead City. After all that fun, the first Swanfest concert series starts on Sunday, May 21st at the downtown square on Front St. For anyone looking to extend a weekend, these free shows are good fun, and a nice compliment to a nice dinner or beverage along the waterfront. Soon enough the EmeraldFest series will start back on Thursday nights down the street, but I’ll hit on that more on a later note.
As always, this information and more is available on the Events Calendar on our website!
